National PPL
The NPPL is a new flying licence directed at the recreational pilot. The standards required are as high as that of the JAR-PPL, however, the course is based around 32hours flying training plus 2 flying exams. There are also 7 ground exams and one oral exam.
It is offered at a lower price than the JAR-PPL due to the reduced amount of hours required.
Currently there are some restrictions on the holder of an NPPL. Flying is restricted to the UK only, night flying is not permitted and further ratings cannot be added to this licence. There maybe limitations on the carriage of passengers, depending on the medical category held. There is a lower level medical requirement for this licence.
